California Visit

Tue Aug 17, 2010 12:30 am

[  Mood: Distorted ]

A week ago my mom and I hopped in my car and we drove to Cali. Now we're on the way back home to Texas. Literally, we're cruising down I-10 through Arizona as I type this.

Well, California is freaking weird. Freeways aren't decorated like they are in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. And why do they put walls on the sides of the freeways? That makes no sense at all.

Well, we stayed at the same resort we stayed at back in September 2005. And unfortunately, this means I also had to interact with grandma. She had the audacity to tell me to turn my sound system off. When we went to her house, she had dogs in the house. After seeing that the dogs were bothering me, she kept playing with them instead of putting them outside. *sigh*

Well, on to the good stuffies! I got to see my cousin again! Yay! I also got to see my mom's cousin, too, and she's just as bizarre as I am. I also got to see my mom's cousin's kids, Olivia, Skyler, and Connor. Olivia and Skyler interacted with me quite a bit and now they like me. Joy. Well, I had fun, that is, when I didn't have to interact with grandma.

Sorries about that

[  Mood: Happy ]

♫ So I caused some drama around here. I'm really sorry about all that. I was going through a really hard time and I wasn't handling well. I overreacted to something stupidly insignificant. I should have used different words, perhaps not even responded to that at all.

If I act in a hostile manner, its because I'm going through a difficult time and I am unable to cope with it. Could be depression or stress, usually a combo of the two. I don't lash out solely because I'm pissed off. When all I am is pissed off, I may fume for a while and be irritable, but I keep to myself. Add depression and/or stress, and that's when shit hits the fan.

There's two ways to calm me, one is kind, the other is not. The kind way to calm me is to ask what's going on in my life that I am unable to fully cope with.

The unkind way to calm me is to show me that you care - its the fail-safe interrupt, causing me to halt whatever I'm doing and break out in tears. I'll cry for 30-90 minutes, and for a few hours I'll be focused on the fact someone cares, and by that time I'll forget what it was that pissed me off. Nobody knew that before, so that didn't happen, and shit spiraled out of control.

Seems strange I typed all this up in a happy mood. Thank the prozac I'm on for that. ♫♥

Unicode

Tue Feb 03, 2009 9:13 am

So, I've noticed there are rules restricting how we can use BBCode. One thing is not clear, and its not been brought up in the announcement, how does this affect postings that contain Unicode? This is a good point, as most Unicode characters are multibyte characters. That is, they only display as a single character, but spam multiple bytes. One example I use often is the heart symbol ( ♥ ). This is a multibyte character which is 3 bytes long in UTF-8 encoding, which is the most often encountered Unicode encoding I have seen. I set up a Unicode Test Utility for testing out Unicode on both client and server. It counts the length of a string using the Unicode-safe mb_strlen() function, and the PHP standard strlen() function. Below, I have two example images. Both images have the same set of 7 three-byte Unicode characters, and the second one also includes a two-byte Unicode character. Note the differences in the two counters. Yes, this can throw off the balance as Raine put it.

WTF?

Cel gives me less celestine than others.

This post: http://celainia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=73552

First, I posted it without the list. I got 4. Then I added the list, and got 7. If you're counting, that's 11 Cel. Kego made a copy and got 20.

Its like an incentive to never post, knowing you're going to get screwed.

Event

This event was WAY better than the last event. The last event (Halloween 2008), I got all but one of the event items (and two of another, somehow), and only 3 of its shop items. Phoo. The shop items for the event were way overpriced, so I couldn't get all of them. Now I can't get the others because they're probably way too expensive for me to get via trading. It was also too short with too many overpriced items. Plus, the way the handout things worked ... I didn't really understand, it wasn't very clear. There was a page to turn handout items into other things, but I had no idea what to do with it. So I got things when the pages loaded, but no clue what to do with them. Also, those items have been removed from the system.

This event? Much better! You sometimes get a gift box when you load the page, give the gift boxes out, and then go visit an NPC for a reward! Its awesome. Simple, no overpriced items, and easy to finish. There's nothing to figure out, and you can get everything fairly quickly. This event is made of win (whereas Halloween 2008 was made of fail). This is the way events should be.

I wonder how many people actually managed to finish the Halloween 2008 event? Probably like two or three, due to the overpricedness and the complexity of it, and the page that made no sense. I'm guessing everyone finished the Winter 2008 event at least once. I know I did.
